He inspires people everyday. With his words of wisdom in business and in life, and his incredible servant leadership, William M. Lyles has paved the way for so many students in the Central Valley to pursue their dreams through education.
In 2008, William “Bill” Lyles, President and CEO of Lyles Diversified, Inc. led the charge to ensure engineering in the Central Valley. Lyles, joined by family members and their sister companies, gifted $10 million to the engineering college with the agreement the University raise an additional $10 million in funding – totaling $20 million. As a third generation engineer, local business owner and active community member, it was only fitting the college be named in honor of he and his family. Lyles Diversified, Inc. includes variety of industry specialties such as real estate and development as well as construction, including underground pipeline, utility, heavy concrete and mechanical construction.
Lyles College of Engineering is appreciative of the family’s generous gift and continuous support of our students who strive only to succeed. This support has allowed the College to provide exceptionally qualified faculty, leading-edge programs, innovative laboratories and provide innovative research opportunities to all students as well as groups that historically have not participated in a university education.
Lyles is a long-time member of the university’s President’s Circle and a member of the Board of Governors for the California State University, Fresno Foundation.
